- Ohio State chosen as research home for Starlab’s George Washington Carver Science Park Terrestrial Lab
Buckeyes are ready to take research out of this world at the first-ever space research science park, the topic of our most-read news story two years in a row. It was announced in 2022 that the George Washington Carver Science Park will be built by Voyager Space on university-owned property adjacent to The Ohio State University Airport.
- Buckeye Jesse Brown realizes airborne dreams
Honored by the U.S. Navy as the first Black naval aviator, Jesse Brown was once a student on the Ohio State campus. The Korean War hero’s determination and dramatic death in combat features in a recent major motion picture. Back in 2021 The Ohio State University Office of Diversity and Inclusion wrote this story about his experiences.
- Lady Buckeyes soar to second place finish in Air Race Classic
Two Buckeye aviators competed in the 46th annual Air Race Classic, which is recognized as the epicenter of women’s air racing. The Lady Buckeyes earned second-place in their class after the three-day, cross-country journey.
- Dual-career Certified Flight Instructor Steve Kinsey keeps Columbus safe from the air
Overcoming obstacles to achieve his aspirations of flight, Certified Flight Instructor Steve Kinsey now uses his experiences to encourage others to set their sights high and never give up. He also serves the community from the air as a police helicopter pilot.
- Opportunity takes flight for Airport Director Adam Wolf
Change was in the air in 2023 at the airport. After three successful years on the job, Director Adam Wolf departed to join Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. Following that, Director Karl Von Hagel onboarded in September.
