412th Army Parachute Jump

Airport closed

All dates for this event occur in the past.

On Saturday, February 3 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., the 412th Civil Affairs Battalion will practice parachute drops on Don Scott Field at The Ohio State University Airport, flying in Black Hawk helicopters.

Since the operations require complete closure of the airspace, they are scheduled to minimize disruption of normal airport activity. However, everyday civilian jump operators from around the area are not permitted to use the facility for this purpose. Only the military may use the facility with advanced notice.

The public will have the opportunity to view the jumps from the gravel parking lot behind the airport administration building. Because of the construction of the new terminal and flight school, there is currently no public area to view the landings. After January, 2019, an observation area will be available in the new building.
